T20 World Cup squad: Babar Azam told to focus on game, not on players

Pakistan  captain Babar Azam is reportedly unhappy with the recently announced squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Geo News reported, citing sources.Babar Azam was not taken into confidence while selecting the team members for the mega event, sources privy to the matter told the TV channel.The captain has objections over inclusion of Azam Khan and Sohaib Maqsood in Pakistan’s T20 squad, revealed the sources.

‘Babar Azam was in favour of Faheem Ashraf and Fakhar Zaman’

The chief selector had added Khan and Maqsood to the team after consultation with Ramiz Raja  currently in line to be the next chairperson of the Pakistan Cricket BoardBabar Azam was in favour of including Faheem Ashraf and Fakhar Zaman in the team, the sources added.The sources further revealed that Babar Azam got in touch with Raja to discuss the team selection, however, he was not heard.

Babar Azam was told to focus on playing game rather than  players’ inclusion in the squad, the sources addedEarlier, it was reported that head coach Misbah-ul-Haq resigned from his post due to conflicts with the cricket board and his reservations over the team selection.Misbah, too, was not happy with the inclusion of Azam Khan in the team. He reportedly had an argument with  Wasim Khan over the team selection.Misbah and bowling coach Waqar Younis resigned the day before, just before the Pak v NZ cricket series and the ICC T20 World Cup.

The Punjab government has warned the Aitchison College for not implementing the Single National Curriculum’s guidelines.According to the details, the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board  Tuesday wrote a letter to the college and warned against issuing books for grades I-V which have not yet been issued NOCs by the board.

It is to apprise you that the reviews and issues  to the books after due process not on the request of an educational institution , but on the request of book developer  who apply for the same,reads the letter.The board called upon the college to direct publishers of the books to submit their work for review and issuance of NOCs.

You are again requested advised to kindly do not prescribe those books which have not given NOCs by PCTB, reads the letter.Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas posted the letter on Twitter, saying that there will be zero exemptions as far as implementing the Single National Curriculum guidelines are concerned.

Last month, spoke to parents of students at the all-boys Aitchison College Lahore, who said that there seems to be no indication that the school is implementing the government’s unified educational curriculum this academic year.So far we have not received any notification from the school saying it is moving towards the Single

National Curriculum, the mother of a Grade 4 student at Aitchison told told Geo.tv, over the phone, asking not to be named. All the subjects, except Urdu, are in English for now. I don’t know if that will change.Geo.tv had said that it has seen the class 5 textbooks for the subjects of Social Studies and Islamiat at Aitchison College.
